2016 Professional Development Class
Lone Star College-CyFair
Lone Star College (2012-Present)
Since 2014, Dr. Alon has taught his Professional Development for Musicians course (MUSC 1191) for Lone Star College students at both the CyFair and University Park campuses. The course is designed for undergraduates who plan to pursue careers in music. Students learn, among other things, how to write professional résumés, CVs, cover letters, and bios; audition, rehearsal, and performance effectiveness and etiquette; and the basics of music law and music business. The class has also featured numerous guest speakers, including arts attorneys, CPAs, representatives from the musicians’ union, studio producers, admissions officers at top tier universities, and others.

AFA/American Festival for the Arts (2006-2018)
As a faculty member (2006-2018) and composition department head (2008-2018), Dr. Alon taught Professional Development classes to the composers at the American Festival for the Arts (AFA) summer festival annually. These lectures focused on equipping young composers with the professional skills to apply, audition, and thrive at universities around the country.
